Pizza Hut
Pizza Hut is a global brand with over 700 restaurants throughout the UK alone. The online interests of the organisation centre predominantly on their takeaway and delivery service, as well as table booking facilities. It presently takes over £1m a week in orders.
The Challenge
With the online arm of their business expanding rapidly, Pizza Hut put the responsibility for managing their complete IT infrastructure out to tender, ensuring that they had the most reliable service provider in place, capable of handling the predicted growth.
As part of the contract it was required that the online ordering business was seamlessly migrated to the new infrastructure.
The Solution
SysMicro's complete understanding of the backend complexities and demands of Pizza Hut's online business fitted perfectly with that which the company required. Their impressive tender beat some of the biggest names in the IT services industry to close the deal on a lucrative three year contract.
Using powerful tools designed by IT vendor Quest Software, SysMicro were able to migrate the servers away from IBM Lotus Notes to Microsoft Exchange 2007. Pizza Hut's head office comprises of 1200 users so it was imperative that the migration was a seamless and non-disruptive process. With SysMicro staff on site to manage the process, this was successfully achieved in the course of a few weeks.
The next step involved migrating one of Pizza Hut’s UK data centres from its Nottingham base to a new location in Slough. With 80 servers, the HP Enterprise Virtual Array (EVA) and Microsoft Storage Area Networks (SAN) needing relocation, the process required six months worth of planning to ensure that no errors or problems would arise during the migration. This included the design and implementation of a complex virtual Disaster Recovery platform, guaranteeing a completely infallible solution, readily adaptable for any event. The meticulous preparation expedited a full and seamless migration over the course of one evening.
SysMicro provide 24/7 management for over 80 of Pizza Hut’s backend servers and Blades, including two HP Storage Arrays, as well as management of the Cisco Network for all of Pizza Hut’s sites.
